The House

Three centuries of stone, kept in place.

The brick staircase, the old wine press, the trussed ceilings: what the Seicento built is still where it was. Around it, the comfort of today — a cinema-grade sound system in the main salon, a kitchen made for long dinners, underfloor quiet everywhere.

The Grounds

Five thousand square metres, walled.

Domestic pines and a lawn that ends at the pool, with the Tolfa hills behind it. The solarium sits out of sight of the village; the courtyard seats sixteen at one table.

The Village

A medieval village outside the door.

Coffee is a two-minute walk, and so are the bakery and the restaurants of Canale Monterano. Beyond the lanes: the Monterano Nature Reserve, the ruins of the old town, the lake, the springs.
